Waterfalls

Why are we so captivated by waterfalls? I recently noticed something interesting: my persistent burning pain, which does not respond to Tylenol or ibuprofen, seems to ease when I am near a waterfall. Curious about why, I did a little research. It turns out that waterfalls release negative ions, which are believed to have several benefits for our well-being. These ions can help improve air quality, boost serotonin levels, and may reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Many people also report better sleep and increased energy after spending time in environments rich in negative ions.

Beyond the science, waterfalls offer something deeper: a powerful connection to nature. People often experience a sense of calm and healing when they spend time near waterfalls, beaches, forests, or mountains, all natural sources of negative ions. The waterfall I am enjoying here is Mineral Springs, but for my next adventure I would really love to visit Lake Minnewaska. I have not been there since I was little, and it feels like the perfect place to reconnect with nature again.
